3 Useful Tips to Embrace Multiple Passions with Confidence

Embracing my multiple passions with confidence has for me, and most of my multi-passionate clients, been the hardest thing about being multi-passionate.

Having multiple passions and deciding what education to get, what job to go for, and what business to start, can feel like walking around in a thick fog alone, while everyone else is walking in the bright sunshine, able to see a clear path before them. For years and years.

Add to that a feeling of not being seen and understood for who you are. So we try and conform and fit in. And stick to one thing. But it doesn't work. We become miserable and change direction/job again.

This life pattern is challenging to our confidence and self-worth, let’s be honest, and it’s why self-love and compassion are the foundations of my creativity coaching.

3 useful tips to embrace multiple passions with confidence

Whatever terrible experiences and bad stories you’ve been told, you can turn yourself around. Definitely get help if you need to, but there are a few things you can do yourself to practice being more confident and comfortable in your creative personality.

There are no quick fixes, you know that, but here are some ways you can practice embracing the wonderful complex person you are.

It will take work on your part, but it's the best work you'll ever do.

  1. Self-love and compassion

Practicing self-love and self-compassion is my most important job. I believe it is for us all, but especially when you are someone, who is a little different than what’s considered the norm.

Kristen Neff’s book on Self-Compassion is the first help I turn to when bad things have happened in my life. Her studies on self-compassion and practical steps are such a life-saver when you feel bad about yourself. I highly recommend you have this book as part of your first-aid kit.

(If you are looking for a "secret", or a missing link, this is it)

2. Focus on your strengths.

If you’re not feeling confident, you might have trouble articulating your strengths, and that’s okay. But you have many.

Claiming what you’re good at is super powerful. You can write down everything you can think of, from baking scones to organizing your kids’ lives, you have a huge amount of qualities, strengths, and things you’re really good at.

We have no problem saying all the things we’re bad at, but we tend to get amnesia when it comes to things we’re good at. Make it your business to remember what you’re good at and write it down.

Looking at your list regularly will help you remember and slowly build more confidence.

3. Rehearse an answer to “What do you do?”

This is a biggie in my experience, and you get to have fun with it.

Create a list of different answers to what you do, and memorize them so you can pull one out on every occasion.

I could say things like:

  • I help creators build a creative process that is based on kaizen small steps and self-kindness.

  • I’m in charge of the webshop for Anbimode.dk (as I’m updating this post)

  • I’m a creativity coach

  • Creators with multiple passions often struggle with clarity and structure in their business. I use a proven framework for creating a personal and effective process so they move forward - without the overwhelm.”

I could go on, but you know what I mean.

You can just make up sentences, so you’re prepared for the annoying question. Instead of mumbling something about it being complicated, you can say with confidence, “I’m…”

They don’t need to know every detail. Own what you do.

How you embrace your multi passions with confidence, is working on embracing the person you are. It's not important whether you have 3 passions or 20 passions. What's important is what fires you up, and that you live true to yourself.
